FAZO DETONATION
AN ALBUM REVIEW
What’s good Wise Mind’s. It’s Wise Mind Jose here. On this blog post I’m going to try something new. For awhile now I’ve been wanting to do album write up’s. I thought what better time to do that than now. I’m currently in recovery from surgery and I’m not so mobile, so the least I can do is sit here and indulge myself into an album. Give it a full listen and share my thoughts on it.
My love for music, predominately hip-hop and R&B, comes from a long history of consuming the genres. From a kid, my mom would buy me CD’s constantly. I’m not even sure if she really knew what she was buying me at such a young age lol, but I had everything from early Kanye’s “Late Registration”, to Jay-Z’s “Kingdom Come”, Lupe’s “Food & Liquor”, etc. My parents and sibilings were also huge consumers of music. I would always sneak their CD’s to listen to, no matter the genre. 😂 I may or may not had used LimeWire for part of my life to burn CD’s and load up MP3 player’s for myself and others. Kids in school would give me their MP3’s to download my music to and bring back next day. Not to make this too much about myself, but it is my first album write up. So I feel like its cool to share a little bit of my love/passion for music. R.I.P. to those Datpiff days 😢. If yall like this, I’ll try to do more in the future, maybe even switch some things up.
The album at hand today though is Fazo’s newly released project titled “Detonation”
This project actually surprised me a bit. It isn’t often that you come across projects from musicians in the area whose project has such wide range. This project has everything from hard hitting punchlines, to spoken word, and memorizing hooks. It’s without question that Fazo can rap with the best of em. Bro be flowin on his tracks and stays on topic for the most part, which is an art that can sometimes go missing. A few tracks that stand out to me are “Fair Share”, “C4”, “Breaking News”, “The Kitchen Sink”, “The Purpose Pt.1”. But, even my favorite tracks don’t take away from what some of the other tracks on this album bring. For example, “From The Dungeon.” This track is a bar heavy piece of art that gives me a kind of New York “boom-bap” type of flow. Fazo’s flow and direction on this track is just a taste of what he brings to the table as far as having an expanded palette. Another example of a track that stands out, but may not be a personal favorite of mine from the album is the song “WHOIAM (Interlude)”. This is a bit of a “spoken-word” like flow that I mentioned previously. Giving the project versatility, I can respect tracks like this because it helps tie things together. Lastly the track, “SearchEbonyThicc” ft. Kareem Trip, is a track that provides a little bit of everything. Vocals and a “singable chours”, along with bars and a chill vibe. Overall just a fun track.
“I rather put the work in, me and my ****** we ain’t askin for no handouts”
from Track 13, “C4”
I would say this is forsure a project that I would recommend to others to check out. If you like good rap or music that you can just vibe to, then this project “Detonation” by Fazo is perfect for you. The energy isn’t too high or too low, something I can cut on mid-day while knocking errands out or getting work done. If you enjoyed this album write up or think I should do more, drop a comment here below ⬇️ in the blog post.
Also, of course, shoutout my dawg Wise Mind Collyn, for putting together this album artwork for this album. Bro is so good at what he does and I love coming across his work unexpectedly. If you want quality, shop with Collyn.
