Kazoku
What’s up everyone! Hope y’all are having a great Tuesday. Just wanted to drop a blog post explaining what’s taking place this week for Wise Mind. This week we are introducing a project of our’s titled KAZOKU. Ultimately this is an Instagram page that serves as an extension of Wise Mind. On this page you can either have your fit broken down, you can see how others are putting our pieces together as inspo, or you can see how spread out across the world Wise Mind is.
Kazoku means several things in Japanese, but to sum it up, it means “The Family” or “The Members of A Family.” I’ve always wanted to make some sort of connection between Wise Mind and Japanese culture because that did play a role in my upbringing. I lived in Japan for 5 years as a child and some of my most memorable moments happened there. In the early stages of the project, I had been trying to think of different ways that we could kind of show more of the energy of Wise Mind. How we could build out a vibe or energy behind the brand and give it the sense of community.
The inclusion of the ocean or water in general fit perfectly, because within a Wise Mind lies stillness. Often, like water, we find the importance in stillness. The ocean can seem very beautiful and calming, but in the same sense can be dangerous. We have the ability to still operate and maneuver through chaos or issues that may arise in our lives, in the sense of the ocean, this would be rough waves. We derive the color palette of the Kazoku branding itself from the beach. The light yellow tones resembling the sand, light blue/white resembling the waves during and after they break, and the navy/dark blue meaning the deep ocean. You’ll find this exact branding layout within our text based logo as well in that order from right to left, in which is the same way the Japanese read books. Funny thing about this all is, my mom could tell you how much I hated the water as a baby, yet it’s a metaphor for who I am today.
You’ll see the ocean water inclusion in the fit breakdowns that we begin to rollout. Often connecting “drip” to fit terminology, or a “wave” in the streetwear industry. This is going to be a cohesive project in which the whole page is one aesthetic. We look to display only well put together or thoughtful fits through this Instagram page. Feel free to submit your fits to jose@wisemindmovement.com, for awhile here we will be offering something in return for those that submit quality outfits. As always appreciate yall’s love and support. It really does mean the world to us, have an amazing week!
